Highway Patrol closes down part of I-26 after fiery accident kills one. Two accidents that happened within a mile of eachother are being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The accidents occurred on I-26 in the westbound lanes in between milemarkers 197 and 199.
Around 9:30 on Tuesday morning this portion of I-26 was closed down as emergency workers tried to clear the wreckage from the accidents. In the first accident a vehicle caught fire at or around the 196 milemarker and the occupant of the vehicle was killed. Along the same area, a four car collision occured; involving a dump truck. The condidtion of the victims that were involved in the second accident are unknown at this time.
