Two school buses were involved in accidents yesterday afternoon about 25 minutes apart.
The first ocurred around 4:00pm in West Ashley on Highway 17 near Melrose Road. The accident involved a school bus, SUV, and dump truck. The school bus originated from Charleston County’s Oakland Elementary and was rear-end by an SUV while dropping off a 5-year old at a daycare on Savannah Highway. No one was injured.
The second accident took place around 4:25pm on James Island at the intersection of Winborn Drive and Dills Bluff Road. The accident occurred when the school bus turned in front of a Charleston County truck, which was driven by a police deputy. The bus carried about a dozen students from the School of the Arts and Academic Magnet. None of the students were injured, but the deputy suffered minor cuts and bruises and was treated at Roper St. Francis Hospital in dowtown Charleston.
