Aiken County, S.C.- A 48-year-old soldier from Texas was hit and killed by a pickup truck on Friday, September 23rd on Edgefield Highway near Eureka, S.C.
Sgt. 1st Class Maurice J. Collier was directing traffic at a motorcycle rally at Ellen’s Bar and Grill, when he was hit by the Ford truck, driven by a 57-year-old man. The man then left the scene, returned, and was confronted by bikers, one of whom stabbed the man. The driver was then taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital, where he was treated for his non life-threatening injuries.
Collier was pronounced dead of multiple body trauma at Aiken Regional Medical Center. Collier was dressed in dark clothing with no reflectors at the time that he was killed.
The accident is currently under investigation and no known arrests have been made.
