Dinwiddie County, VA – Three people were killed in an accident that took place on Friday, November 11th, on Interstate 85 in Dinwiddie County.
Brandy Richey, 25, was traveling in her pickup truck with members of her South Carolina family when she hit into the back of a logging truck and then struck from behind by a bus. Brandy Richey, as well as her husband, James A. Richey, and father-in-law, James P. Richey, were killed in the accident. Brandy Richey’s sister, Rhonda M. Meeks, was injured in the accident and taken to Virginia Commonwealth
University Medical Center, where she has not yet been released.
The bus that struck their pickup from behind was carrying 49 North Carolina A&T State University students and a chaperone to a meeting of the National Society of Black Engineers in Baltimore. The driver of the bus, Malverse L. Vanloan, of Greensboro, N.C., sustained serious injuries in the wreck, but has since been released and charged with reckless driving. State Police are still investigating the accident.
