Orangeburg County, S.C. – On the morning of Thursday, March 8th, two men were hit and killed by a log truck on US 301 in Orangeburg County.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that at around 5:00am, the log truck was traveling south on US 301 when it swerved to avoid an unoccupied vehicle in the middle of the road that had been involved in a previous accident. The log truck then hit the two men that were standing near the vehicle.
Melvin Felder, 43, of Orangeburg, and Marvin King, 20, of Vance, were pronounced dead on the scene as a result of blunt force trauma.
The log truck driver was transported to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident.
