Folly Beach, SC – Folly Beach Police Department officials have reported that a Jeep crossed the center line causing the head-on collision that killed two people and injured six on Sunday, March 18th.
Joshua Miller, 33, was driving the Jeep away from Folly Beach at the time, when he crossed the center line and hit Jimmy Minchew, 75, who was driving a truck towards Folly Beach. The traffic report states that Miller crossed the center line of Folly Road while “possibly attending to two small children in the backseat.”
Miller died at the scene and Minchew died on the way to the hospital, both as a result of blunt force trauma.
Seven others were injured in the accident, including two of Miller’s children who were in his back seat.
Minchew’s wife, Betty Minchew, found out that her husband was in an accident after driving up to the scene after sitting in traffic. A funeral service for Jimmy Minchew will be held at the Fish Hatchery Church of God in Columbia on Thursday at 3:00pm.
