Charleston, S.C. – The pedestrian who was fatally hit by a vehicle on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard on the morning of Saturday, February 18th, has been identified.
Darleen Banks, 56, of West Ashley, was walking on Sam Rittenberg Blvd near North Woodmere Drive in Charleston when the accident occurred while she was attempting to cross the road.
Banks was hit by a white Ford Taurus, causing her to be thrown across two lanes. Officers caught up with the vehicle that hit Banks.
Banks was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma to the body.
No charges have been made at this time and the accident is still being investigated.
