Darlington, S.C. – On Saturday, March 17th, a woman was killed in a car accident that was allegedly caused by an all terrain vehicle (ATV).
Mary Frances Williams, 54, of Darlington, was traveling in a Geo car on Society Hill Road at around 5:00pm when the accident occurred. An ATV that was traveling east on Watkins Drive came to the intersection of Society Hill Road, causing Williams to swerve and hit a pickup truck head-on.
Williams did not survive the accident and the driver of the truck was not injured.
The driver of the ATV, 37-year-old Stuart Berry, left the scene, but was later found. He has been charged with felony DUI and leaving the scene of an accident involving death.
Two children were also in the vehicle with Williams when the accident happened. They survived the crash.
