November 2, 2010 – A pedestrian is fighting for her life after she was hit by a van while crossing the street on Monday. According to a report at WCSC TV Charleston, the accident occurred during rush hour on Monday evening in Summerville.
Details are still being uncovered, but initial reports indicate that the victim was attempting to cross Central Avenue in Summerville when she was hit by a van. Police have not said if the pedestrian had the right of way or if she was crossing in a crosswalk. The victim has not yet been identified. First responders reported to the scene and transported the victim to Medical University Hospital with serious personal injuries. Her condition is currently unknown and police do not know if she is expected to survive.
The driver of the van, who was not injured in the crash, has also not been identified. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating this pedestrian accident, and no charges have been filed as of Monday evening. More information on this accident will be added if and when it becomes available.
