October 22, 2010 – The patrons of a local Dunkin’ Donuts were lucky to escape serious personal injuries when a car came crashing into the front of the store on Thursday. According to a report at WCSC TV Charleston, the car accident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
Police say the driver was attempting to park in front of the Dunkin’ Donuts store on Dorchester Road in North Charleston when he or she accidentally accelerated rather than stepping on the brake. The car crashed into the store’s front window, spraying glass and debris into the store. Fortunately, the store wasn’t busy at the time of the accident and no one inside suffered any personal injuries. The driver also escaped serious injuries. When first responders arrived at the scene, the car was still partly lodged in the restaurant.
The identity of the driver involved has not been released, but police say he or she is not facing any charges in this crash. There is currently no word on when the Dunkin’ Donuts on Dorchester Road will reopen.
