On Saturday, an infant was killed, in a three car accident on I-95. The tragic event played out when an allegedly drunk driver, lost control of her SUV and sideswiped another SUV, knocking it into the guardrail. A truck then hit both of the vehicles, causing an infant riding in one of the cars to be ejected from the vehicle and in to Lake Marion. A Barnwell woman was driving the car that caused the accident. She faces felony DUI charges.
In addition to the unfortunate death of the infant, seven other people were injured in the accident. The driver charged with driving under the influence is currently being treated at a hospital in Orangeburg.
